Thai school culture is conservative and hierarchical. The teachers who get hired are the ones who look the part, conduct themselves with respect, and deliver a confident demo lesson. Qualifications and personality alone do not secure offers — presentation does.
Men — dark trousers (not jeans, not chinos), long-sleeved collared shirt tucked in, tie expected at most schools, closed dark leather shoes, clean-shaven or neatly trimmed facial hair.
Women — knee-length skirt or dark trousers, blouse with sleeves (no sleeveless tops, no low necklines), closed shoes with low or flat heels, hair tied back or styled neatly.
Both — all visible tattoos must be covered. No visible piercings beyond standard ear studs. Conservative, understated, professional in every detail.
Most schools require a 10 to 15 minute demo lesson, either to real students or to staff acting as students. More offers are won and lost on the demo than on anything else.
